Best Practices
This site is designed to be an encouragement to the body of Christ. The following guidelines are designed to help businesses consider how their operations reflect on the body of Christ, and Christ Himself.
- A God-honoring business person recognizes his calling to share the good news of Jesus Christ with others.
“He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned’” (Mark 16:15-16).
- A God-honoring business person seeks to serve others.
“Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross!” (Philippians 2: 5-8).
- A God-honoring business person is focused on the things of God, and uses their influence to focus the hearts and minds of others on the things of God.
“…whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things” (Philippians 4:8).
- A God-honoring business person seeks to support other God-honoring business people.
“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 15:5-6).
- A God-honoring business person seeks to display the fruit of the Holy Spirit through a dependence upon the Holy Spirit.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (Galatians 5:22).
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).
While we all fail as Christians to perfectly portray godly characteristics, and while we all make decisions which fail to glorify God, may we all encourage each other towards godly attitudes and actions.
