Failing as a Mom

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Sometimes as moms we fail on a very large scale.  Most of us don’t have any problem admitting that we fail on a regular basis.  Strangely enough, when we get stuck focusing solely on our failures, we actually manage to make things worse!

The moms from the Mob Society have put together a book designed to help us turn our focus from our failures to God’s grace.  This book is now available through Amazon for just $2.99 as a Kindle edition.

Best of all, “All of the proceeds (every penny) will go to bring the Word of God to the people of the DRC through the ministry of The Seed Company.”  (The Seed Company was launched by Wycliffe Bible Translators in 1993.)

Determining God’s Will

Posted by: | Comments (0)

We have a couple of friends right now who are looking for new employment opportunities.  While my husband and I are not looking at making any work changes, we are considering how God may want to use us differently when it comes to ministry.

If you find yourself trying to determine God’s will for your life in either work on ministry, I would encourage you to check out R.C. Sproul’s short series, Knowing God’s Will in Your Life.  The series is currently available for free listening.  Simply visit Ligonier.org, click on the green “Audio Broadcast” button, and scroll down the right hand menu for recently aired programs.  Related broadcasts include January 16-19.  While the series won’t give you a “magic” key for determining God’s will, it will help you to think more clearly about the direction in which God desires to lead you.

Let us know what you think!

An Exciting Book

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Westminister Books is now offering A New Testament Biblical Theology: The Unfolding of the Old Testament in the New by G.K. Beale. This exciting book is currently available for 45% off the regular price.

Here is an excerpt from one endorsement of the book:

“The use of the Old Testament in the New Testament forms the backbone of this work so that readers grasp how the storyline of Scripture coheres. We stand in debt to the author for his detailed and profound unfolding of New Testament theology.”  – Thomas R. Schreiner

Michael Horton and David Wells are also among the endorsers of the Beale’s new book.  Check it out and let me know what you think!

Free Adoption Resources

Posted by: | Comments (0)

My husband and I are currently in the process of international adoption, so this is a subject which is obviously constantly on our minds.  But as Christians, it is easy for us to forget that we ourselves have been adopted.  It is also easy to forget the great price which has been paid for our adoption.  Monergism Books has put together a list of free resources on the doctrine of adoption that you might be interested in checking out.  Find downloadable pdfs, MP3s, and video links from J.I. Packer, John Piper, Justin Taylor, Ligon Duncan, and many more.  If you are a Christian, you have been adopted!
