Last night my husband, his brother, and I spent a little bit of time with a friend from church who will be graduating from High School in just a few weeks. Much like several other high school seniors we know, he’s trying to figure out what the best option is for him. As we got deeper into the conversation, it became pretty obvious that the financial aspect of college is weighing on him. (I’m so glad he is concerned about it. The kids who are really in trouble are those who don’t think $80,000 of private college debt is a problem. Ah!)
The three of us spent some time explaining how much better off we would be financially had we taken different educational routes. Even though none of us acquired a great deal of college related debt, there are definitely things we wish we could go back and do differently. And, when it is our turn to send our kids to college, we definitely won’t be sending them down the same paths we took.

Don’t get stuck doing what everybody else is doing just because that is what everybody else is doing! Think outside of the box. God just might have something else in mind for you!
